With thousands of
students vying for a single scholarship, especially after PMR, SPM or STPM
examinations, you simply cannot afford to make any mistakes on your scholarship
application. If you want your scholarship application to be given due
consideration, you must send in your application before the deadline.
Applications that are late, even by a day or two, will often not be considered.
What is equally bad is sending in incomplete applications. Candidates often
forget to enclose their certificates or money order, so check before you seal
the envelope. Another way of getting your application thrown into the bin is to
send in one that has grammatical or spelling errors. Ask your parents or your
teachers to read through your application before you submit it, especially if
you are required to write an essay.
While being able to
stand out from the thousands of applications is important, it is not advisable
to exaggerate your accomplishments. Students may be tempted to claim that they
have won this competition or the other, but we live in a small world and your
little white lie may be found out. Most importantly, if you do not meet the
academic requirements for the scholarship, don't even bother to apply. You
would only be wasting your time and energy.
Summary: To make sure your scholarship
application gets due consideration, you must send in your application on time.
Make sure it is complete, with no grammatical or spelling mistakes. Besides
that, do not exaggerate or lie about your accomplishments. Most importantly,
make sure you meet the academic requirements in the first place. Otherwise, do
not bother to send in your application.
